Punjab has extended the lockout till April 30. Punjab has become the second state after Orissa to extend the lockout. So far 10 people have died here from Corona. 132 cases have come to light. Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said that experts had predicted that the epidemic would be most effective in mid-September and 58% of Indians would be infected. He said that about 87 percent of the people in Punjab were likely to be infected during this period.
At present the situation is not such that sanctions should be lifted: Capt Amarinder
In a video conference, Amarinder said that our government was seriously considering extending the lockout as conditions were not conducive to lifting the ban. Shortly after this video conferencing, the Punjab government announced an extension of the lockout till April 30.
"Now there is a risk of community infection in the state," Amarinder said. "We have a team of top-notch doctors and they believe this is the beginning of a battle," he said. The situation in India could worsen in the next few months. No government of India can think of lifting the ban. We have to keep an eye on the spread of the infection.
"Aid is not enough to raise Rs 15,000 crore, ”he said.
Mr. Amarinder Singh termed the funds released by the Center as a deficit of Rs. 15,000 crore. He asked how this amount could be enough for 140 crore Indians. No state can fight this war without the help of the central government because no one has the resources. The central government should come forward to help the states and give them more money. This will enable the state to make arrangements for rations, accommodation and medicines.
